Buying questions

Frequently asked questions.

If an answer depends on the actual environment, we say so. Scope, authorization, safety, and the systems around the request matter.

01

What is Tyler’s Tech Company?

Tyler’s Tech Company provides IT support and technology management for businesses and homes throughout Greater Boston. Services include one-off troubleshooting, residential support, business IT cleanup and projects, Microsoft 365, networks, cybersecurity, and managed IT.

02

Who provides the work?

TTCo is responsible for the agreed work. We confirm the scope and point of contact, explain recommendations, coordinate changes, and document the result so the next step is clear.

03

Do you support both small businesses and homes?

Yes. Business work includes managed IT, Microsoft 365, cybersecurity, networks, cloud files, projects, and break-fix support. Residential work includes Wi-Fi, devices, accounts, home offices, backups, and connected-home technology.

04

What do you handle as one-off support?

One-off work can include Mac and Windows troubleshooting, software and updates, account recovery, email, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Wi-Fi, printers and peripherals, device setup, backup checks, logical data recovery, migrations, cleanup, and repair-or-replace guidance for homes and small businesses.

05

Do you repair screens, batteries, or internal computer parts?

No. We diagnose symptoms and provide software support, setup, migration, accessible-data protection, and replacement guidance, but we do not replace screens, batteries, keyboards, boards, drives, ports, or other internal components. We do not perform soldering, liquid-damage repair, or component-level physical repair.

06

Where do you provide on-site service?

On-site work is available across Greater Boston and nearby communities. Remote support is available when the issue can be handled safely and effectively without a visit. The service-area page lists the primary coverage area.

07

Can we start with one specific problem or project?

Yes. A focused troubleshooting request, migration, network improvement, office change, or security project can stand on its own. If the work exposes recurring operational gaps, we explain them without requiring an ongoing agreement.

08

When does managed IT make more sense than break-fix support?

Managed IT is a better fit when a team needs recurring help desk support, user onboarding and offboarding, device and account administration, vendor coordination, documentation, maintenance, and technology planning. Break-fix is better for a contained issue with a clear end.

09

How do new requests begin?

Call (617) 302-8179 with a short description of the issue or project and who is affected. We review the request, clarify scope and urgency, and then recommend a remote session, on-site visit, discovery conversation, or project estimate.

10

Do you provide immediate or emergency support?

Standard hours are 9 AM–6 PM ET, seven days. Eligible managed clients may have an after-hours escalation path under their service agreement. A new website inquiry does not create an emergency-response commitment; call if the situation is time-sensitive.

11

What should I prepare before contacting TTCo?

Describe the symptoms, recent changes, affected people or devices, and any deadline. Keep passwords and sensitive account or personal information private. We will explain any access needed for the work.

12

Which platforms do you work with?

Common work includes Microsoft 365, Google cloud services, Windows, macOS, Apple devices, UniFi networks, backup platforms, endpoint security, and business applications. We confirm fit before accepting work that depends on a specialized or vendor-locked system.

13

How is pricing determined?

Published starting and fixed prices show the smallest defined engagement for each service. Scope, environment, urgency, travel, risk, users, devices, and third-party dependencies can change the final estimate. The service page explains the billing unit and important exclusions before you contact us.

14

Can project work become ongoing support?

Yes, when both sides agree it is a good fit. A project can establish documentation and a stable baseline before an ongoing relationship begins, but ongoing service is not required for every project.
